I am seriously considering moving off of CreateAForum, as the ads are annoying and  a number of features are missing (fully custom skins?).  There are a number of good ad-free free webhosts and we could easily move. 
PROs:
Better control over content.
Custom skins/features.
No ads.
CONs:
All posts would be lost.
Links to current website would be lost.
